DST Studio was founded in 2001 by a team of professional digitizers with over 25 years of embroidery experience. Tired of seeing businesses waste money on auto-digitized files that looked terrible when sewn, we built a service that does it right — by hand, every time.
Our Story
DST Studio was founded in 2001 by a professional embroidery digitizer with over 25 years of experience working with commercial embroidery shops across the USA. After watching countless businesses receive terrible auto-digitized files from cheap online services, we set out to build something better.
The mission was simple: deliver hand-digitized embroidery files at a price that makes sense for small businesses — starting at just $5 per design — with a turnaround fast enough to keep production moving.
Today, DST Studio has digitized over 60,000 logos and designs for businesses, sports teams, uniform suppliers, and embroiderers across all 50 states. Every single file is still digitized by hand, by a real person, using professional software.
Milestones
The Team
Every file is digitized by a real person with years of hands-on embroidery experience — not an algorithm.
Plus 5 additional digitizers and quality reviewers — all with 4+ years of professional embroidery experience.
How We Work
From artwork submission to delivery — here is exactly what happens to your design.
Send us your PNG, JPG, PDF, AI, EPS, or SVG file. Any format works — we handle the rest.
Our digitizer studies your artwork — identifying colors, detail levels, fabric type, and stitch requirements before touching the software.
Every element is traced by hand in professional embroidery software. We select stitch types, set density, add underlay, and apply pull compensation.
A second digitizer reviews the file for stitch count, density consistency, color sequence, and trim commands before delivery.
You receive your DST file (plus any additional formats you need) by email. Free revisions included until you are 100% satisfied.
Why It Matters
Free online converters and auto-digitizing software produce files that look terrible when sewn. Here is why manual digitizing is the only way to get professional results.
Software algorithms trace pixel edges, not design intent. The result is random stitch directions, excessive jump stitches, and designs that look blurry when sewn.
Different fabrics pull differently. A digitizer knows to add more underlay on stretchy knits, reduce density on thin fabrics, and adjust pull compensation for each material.
Satin stitch for borders and text, fill stitch for large areas, running stitch for fine details — choosing the wrong type ruins the sewout. Humans make this call correctly every time.
The order colors are sewn matters. A skilled digitizer sequences colors to minimize trims, reduce thread breaks, and ensure each layer covers the previous correctly.
The bottom line:
Auto-digitized files cost you more in the long run — wasted thread, broken needles, re-runs, and unhappy customers. A $5 hand-digitized file from DST Studio pays for itself the first time you run it.
Free revisions until you are 100% satisfied. No questions asked.
Every file reviewed by a second digitizer before delivery.
Flat rates, no surprises. $5 means $5 — not $5 plus hidden fees.
